MCP Primitives define the types of contextual information that can be shared with the MCP Host and also the range of actions that can be performed via the connection. Servers can expose three things as primitivesClients can discover available primitives by running */list:

  1. Tools
  2. Resources
  3. Prompts

On the other side, clients can expose their own types of primitives:

  1. Sampling
  2. Elicitation
  3. Logging
